BioChips

BioChips are multi-use multi-electrode arrays (MEA) for high resolution in-vitro extracellular electrophysiology. The chip is built in a standard CMOS-based technology and it is packaged onto a substrate together with a glass reservoir. The wide opening of the reservoir allows using a microscopic setup for concurrent visual inspection of the experiment. To meet your special requirements, custom packages of our devices can be realized upon request.

BioChip 4096S

The BioChip 4096S integrates 4096 electrodes on 2.67mm x 2.67mm centered in a 3mm x 3mm working area. The electrode size is 21µm x 21µm and the electrode spacing is 21µm as well. The glass ring measures 27mm in internal diameter and is available in heights of 5mm or 7mm. The noise level of the circuit is 26 µVrms.
This is the device of choice for your high-resolution recordings from cell cultures.

BioChip 4096S+ (available in Spring 2012)

The BioChip 4096S+ integrates 4096 electrodes on a 2.67mm x 2.67mm recording area centered in a 6mm x 6mm working area. This configuration provides a larger area to facilitate coupling with electrogenic tissue (e.g. brain slices) and enables to record specific areas at the same spatial resolution of the BioChip 4096S. The electrode size is 21µm x 21µm and the electrode spacing amounts to 21µm as well. The glass ring measures 27mm in internal diameter and is available in heights of 5mm or 7mm. The noise level of the circuit is 26 µVrms.

BioChip 4096E (available in Spring 2012)

The BioChip 4096E integrates 4096 electrodes on a 5.12mm x 5.12mm recording area centered in a 6mm x 6mm working area. This configuration provides the capability to record from very large tissues at high spatial resolution. This device is also providing a uniformly distributed stimulation array of 16 electrodes. The recording electrode size is 21µm x 21µm and the electrode spacing is of 60µm. The stimulation electrodes have a diameter of 50µm and they are uniformly interleaved over the recording area. The glass ring measures 27mm in internal diameter and is available in heights of 5mm or 7mm. The noise level of the amplifiers is 26 µVrms.
