3Brain has achieved the development of a platform for high resolution electrophysiology. The system employs a proprietary CMOS technology allowing a disruptive increase in the number and density of simultaneously recording electrodes, integrated over a large active surface. This allows mapping the spontaneous evoked extracellular activity of cell cultures grown on this active area as well as activity propagations in acute tissue. Uniquely, it is possible to record from the whole array at sufficient sampling rate to resolve spiking activity, as well as to zoom in to the local activity and to correlate between information captured at different spatial scales. Applications span from functional investigation on electro-active tissues and dissociated cell cultures to drug-induced functional assessments.
Our high-resolution BioCAM platform consists of three hardware and software components. i) a multiuse BioChip, ii) the acquisition and control BioCAM system, iii) the BrainWave control and analysis software with an easy-to-use graphical interface.
