We have combined high technology, materials and functional design to achieve an outstanding compact device that has no parallel in the market.

4096 recording electrodes, sampled simultaneously at 18kHz, provide orders of magnitude more data points compared to conventional passive Multielectrode Arrays (MEAs),

thus leading to the recording, over a large bandwidth, of electrophysiological signals ranging from slow large-population field potentials to fast single-cell spiking activity.

BioCAM X platform delivers unique insights into several in-vitro electrophysiological models, such as neuronal cell cultures, brain slices, retina preparations and cardiac cultures.


BioCAM X incorporates further optional functionalities, which come as separate modules in most MEA-systems, such as a temperature control system and an electrical programmable current-driven stimulator.

A compact MEA platform

BioCAM X's small footprint allows easy integration with lab equipment commonly used in electrophysiology, such as microscopes, and perfusion and patch-clamp systems.

"Plug-and-record" quick system

BioCAM X has the easiest mechanical system for plugging in MEA chips. Just one click to lock the chip and to start immediately to visualize and record your data on the BrainWave's visual interface. Unlocking it is just as easy.

Unique feature

Anti-Spill barrier

When the HD-MEA probe is inserted and locked into its bay, a barrier comes down separating the downstream electronics. This prevents circuitry damage in case of accidental overflow of liquids.

MEA probes


CMOS-based high density multielectrode arrays (HD-MEAs) are multi-use devices with 4096 recording electrodes for high resolution in-vitro extracellular electrophysiology. The chip is based on CMOS technology and is packaged onto a substrate together with a glass reservoir.

HD-MEA electrodes are coated with Pt to provide a stable and fully biocompatible surface. The quality of the recording is ensured by the impressive signal-to-noise ratio, as you can appreciate from our video samples section. See videos



BioCAM X is supplied with the latest BrainWave software version, which provides powerful visualization and analysis tools for electrophysiological signals during and after your experiments and stores all your data in HDF5 format.
