Integrated programable stimulator

BioCAM Stimulator X

This stimulator is an add-on module that expands the functionality of BioCAM X, our latest microelectrode array, also known as a multielectrode array, built with CMOS technology (CMOS-MEA). The module has been engineered to fit into the BioCAM X to save space. Its channels can be accessed directly through the BioCAM X’s rear connector or, more easily, through the included BX110A external connector box. The stimulator module features (see full specs):

  • 4 independently programmable current stimulation channels up to +/-1 mA (time res. 10 μs, amplitude res. 10 μA)
  • routing toward 16 on-chip stimulation sites (HD-MEA Stimulo)
  • routing to 4 external differential channels (for use with your external electrodes)
  • three LV-TTL GPIOs
Compact connector hub


The external connector box BX110A facilitates the access to the BioCAM X CMOS-MEA channels and internal modules (like the stimulation module). It features:

  • 4 output stimulation channels
  • 1 input stimulation channel
  • 3 digital In/Out lines
  • 2 analog input lines 

Longer recording of neuronal cell cultures out of the incubator

MIB: the mini-incubator box

Drawing from our years of experience with neuronal cell cultures, we created MIB, a mini-incubator box for our BioCAM X CMOS-MEA, to enable long-term recordings from neuronal cell cultures on microelectrode arrays or multielectrode arrays (MEAs). MIB can be easily connected to the O2/CO2 line, and the temperature is constantly monitored by the BioCAM X temp-control function.

Sterility and humidity under control

Microelectrode array lids

Our MEA lids have been specifically designed for our HD-MEA probes. They are made of polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon™) and have a transparent membrane (FEP: fluorinated ethylene-propylene) stretched across the top. The membrane allows the diffusion of gases, but limits evaporation, thus reducing the need for a humidified atmosphere while also preventing culture contamination. Caps can be sterilized and are available with just the FEP membrane (BC100A; left figure) or equipped with a perfusion inlet and outlet (BC101A; right figure).
